Eleanor's new book cover
Last summer, after about six hundred years, I self-published a novel called Eleanor. To my great surprise and pleasure, the book did quite well out there in the world; it became an Amazon bestseller, and a few hundred people wrote reviews of it. A lot of those reviews were really good. All in all, I was happy with how things went. But then something happened that I'm just not accustomed to. Things went... better.
In the fall—that's still last fall we're talking about here—Crown Publishing bought the rights to republish the novel. After several months of fresh editing, the publishing machines spun into gear, and I began to see these wonderful artifacts, like bound galleys, and heard people discussing things like "ARC release date" and such. I'm a geek for process, so it's possible I've been even more excited just to see how a publisher gears up for a book launch than I've been to see the book actually, you know, published.
Today, I finally get to share one of those artifacts with you: Eleanor's brand new cover. I'll shut up now, and just show you this gorgeous thing:
Tell me that's not stunningly beautiful. The design is by the exceptionally talented Michael Morris. There are a lot of words that run through my mind when I look at this design, such as "fragile" or "delicate" or "haunting," all of which describe aspects of this novel quite well. Or as a friend said: "Oh, that is literary as fuck." This is going to be such a gorgeous-looking book. I can't wait to actually hold a copy of it in my hands.
I've also got a release date for you now: Eleanor will be published by Crown on January 12, 2016. (And if that seems like a long time to wait, just remember how long it took to get to this point at all. A few months aren't anything.) On that date, the book will be available in hardcover as well as in ebook and audio format. (This also means that the self-published edition is, less than a year after its release, gone forever. I sure hope you snapped up a paperback copy before it disappeared!)
Most exciting of all, the new edition of the book is available for pre-order already on Amazon and other retail platforms. Here's a really big button; you know what to do!
