Jason Gurley

By day, I'm a user experience designer; by evenings/weekends, I write novels from my home in Scappoose, Ore. My newest is Awake in the World, published February 2019 by Roaring Brook Press; my previous novel, Eleanor, was published by Crown in 2016 and has since been translated into German, Portuguese, and Turkish. I’m currently working on a new project.

What's in the box?

Galleys of Eleanor arrived today from the publisher! These are essentially bound copies of the manuscript with the latest version of the new cover design affixed to the front. This isn't a final copy of the manuscript; copyediting is still in progress, but this 'uncorrected' edition is close enough to complete that my publisher, my agent, and I can share it with early readers. A handful of these have gone out, in the past week, to authors I enthusiastically admire, with the hopes that each will read it and have some kind words to share about it. Kind sentiments usually end up stamped on the final book cover in the form of blurbs, much like the one that exists on the self-published edition's cover currently:

The cover art for the upcoming edition of the book is dramatically different from the cover design that I originally created for the self-published edition. It's truly something special, and I should be able to share it with you in the reasonably near future.
