Exceptionally happy to share this good news today. There's not much more to add at this early stage besides what's in Publisher's Weekly's announcement, except to say I'm really proud of this book, and excited to see it make its way out into the world.
As you might guess from the synopsis above, there's a bit of my own affection for Carl Sagan and Ann Druyan and their work in this book. The title, in fact, comes from a quote that Ms. Druyan was kind enough to permit me to use in the novel: "Even if it's very late at night. Someone's always awake in the world." That's from her lovely fantasy novel A Famous Broken Heart, published by Stonehill in 1977. I recommend tracking it down if you can.
A year's a long time to wait...and at the same time it's no time at all. While that time passes, of course, I recommend pre-ordering the book, which you can do from Powell's Books. There are a few other pre-order options to be found on Macmillan's Awake in the World page as well.
More to come as the eventual release date approaches!
