Jason Gurley

By day, I'm a user experience designer; by evenings/weekends, I write novels from my home in Scappoose, Ore. My newest is Awake in the World, published February 2019 by Roaring Brook Press; my previous novel, Eleanor, was published by Crown in 2016 and has since been translated into German, Portuguese, and Turkish. I’m currently working on a new project.

And we have a cover!

Very, very pleased to share the cover for Awake in the World, my debut young adult novel. It was designed by Aimee Fleck, who's really done something wonderful here. (Book cover design is always an interesting topic for me, having dabbled a bit myself, and it's always a little unusual to be the person someone is designing for, rather than the person doing the designing. But Aimee really captured the mood of this book, and just floored me. It's perfect.)

The book is due from Roaring Brook Press in early 2019, and you can pre-order it now from Powell's Books, my hometown bookstore, or Amazon. (You'll also find a few other early retailers on Macmillan's site, if you prefer.)

Isn't it gorgeous?
